IMO donates 50,000 US dollars to BRAC to help flood victims

Imo has emerged as a responsible global brand to help people in flood-prone areas in the north and northeast of Bangladesh. The company is involved in the 'Dakche Amar Desh' campaign in a joint venture with BRAC to provide relief materials and donation assistance to flood-affected areas.

Imo and imo users have donated USD 50,000 through the 'Calling My Country' initiative. In this context, IMO Bangladesh Senior Marketing Manager Md. Masud Rana said, "We have partnered with great organizations like BRAC to stand by the people whose houses, shops, cultivated land, and domestic animals have been damaged in this terrible flood. The entire rehabilitation process will take a long time; however, we are continuing our all-out efforts to speed up the rehabilitation process and overcome the burden of damage.”

Tushar Bhowmik, Chief Financial Officer of BRAC said, "Understanding the terrible damage caused by the floods, BRAC is again calling on them to deliver the necessary items to more than 50,000 flood victims and launched the Amar Desh campaign. The popular instant messaging app IMO has joined us with financial support during this crisis. We believe this will be exemplary for other international organizations in demonstrating social responsibility.”

About 60,000 families have received dry food, water and other essential relief items under the 'Dakche Amar Desh' campaign. 7800 water purification tablets have been distributed to prevent outbreak of waterborne diseases. Through this initiative, a plan was taken to provide financial assistance to 40 thousand of families. As emergency aid, the program provides food security, safe drinking water, sanitation facilities, personal hygiene, dignity kits, animal feed and other items. It follows the UN Humanitarian Coordination Task Team (HCTT) Response Plan (July-December 2022) for severe flash floods in the north-eastern districts of Bangladesh. In addition to this joint effort, IMO has launched a dedicated channel called 'Bangladesh Relief' to expedite flood relief and fundraising. From June 23 to June 25 last month, IMO urged users to come forward to help the flood-affected people. Responding to the call, the brand raised ১২ 12,751 in donations from users.

Earlier, the company launched a free-data donation campaign worth Tk 4 million for imo users in the Sylhet division. imo has made itself a responsible corporate entity by contributing to various adversities in the country.
